Bubble Tea Licious Food Truck Review

There’s a new food truck on GW’s campus, and it’s serving up bubble tea in all forms and flavors. In case you’re behind on the trend, bubble tea is a milky tea drink that originated in Taiwan. The tea is served with chewy tapioca pearls and a thick straw to allow for the tapioca pearls to go through. For the whole story on bubble tea, read up here.

Bubble Tea Licious offers traditional bubble tea and bubble tea smoothies ($5) in 18 flavors, including: green teastrawberry, mango, avocado, yogurt and passion fruit. The truck also serves fruity bubble tea ($5), which contains no milk, in flavors like lychee and passion fruit. Other sweet treats include shaved ice, slurpees, ice cream and milkshakes.

Honeydew Bubble Tea Smoothie

For my first stop at Bubble Teat Licious, I ordered a Honeydew Smoothie Bubble Tea. Honeydew is undoubtedly the most popular bubble tea flavor. Unlike the fairly bland fruit, the bubble tea is milky and super sweet. I highly doubt real fruit is used in making bubble tea, but whatever is in it, it’s tasty. I was worried that the smoothie would get diluted and watery after a while, but it didn’t. The taste was strong even an hour after I bought it (it was a large drink!). The beverage was larger than my head, so I got a lot for my money, but I don’t advise trying to finish the whole thing. It’s just too much bubble tea for one person.

Bubble Tea Licious is great for a sweet pick-me-up in between classes. The truck has been on GW’s campus on H Street a lot recently. To find out its location every day, follow the truck at @bubbleteaparty.
