Glazed and Infused Lincoln Park Review
When I arrived, they had samples of the Mable Bacon Long John ($3) sitting on the counter. I was skeptical of both the gourmet doughnut and bacon trends, but the combination proved to be incredible. The log-shaped doughnut was topped with a maple syrup glaze and candied bacon. The bacon added a nice salty flavor to the sweetness of the maple glaze. Ying and yang have manifested themselves at this Chicago doughnut shop in the form of the Maple Bacon Long John.
I went home with a Red Velvet Doughnut ($3). It was very red and very velvety. The pastry was a classic, moist cake doughnut topped with some of the best cream cheese frosting I have ever had. The frosting really made the doughnut. I actually felt like I was eating a decadent cake, and not a cop’s favorite snack.
Glazed & Infused’s other flavors include White Chocolate Passion Fruit, Coffee Glazed, Blueberry-Lemon Glazed and some more traditional flavors. The shop also sells mini versions of the doughnuts by the dozen, as well as doughnut holes. They also sell really cool doughnut-themed Chicago flag t-shirts.
If you’re in Chicago and haven’t had Glazed & Infused yet, what are you waiting for? The doughnuts have gotten tons of acclaim, including the honor of being voted the reader’s choice for Best Doughnut in Chicago this year on Best of Chicago. Now they can add the BTR stamp of approval to their list of accolades.
The Bottom Line:
