Amid cupcake-filled Georgetown, Pie Sisters does its own thing. This cute, quaint pie shop is located where few GW students go: the very end of M Street, just below the famous Exorcist steps (you can’t blame us… it’s far from Foggy Bottom). However, for journalistic purposes, I had to make the trek.
I popped in on a Sunday afternoon, and little did I know, I had arrived in time for Cuppie Hour. Pie Sisters’ personal pies were on sale for $2.25 (usually $3.75) and slices cost $3 (originally $5). I love a good deal!
I went for the Chocolate Cream Cuppie. The whipped cream was simply amazing: thick, sweet and homemade. The chocolate chips on top added a nice crunch to the gooey dessert. The filling was basically a bittersweet chocolate pudding. I didn’t think the filling was anything special, but it didn’t really matter because the whipped cream was so good and it was cuppie hour. The pie crust was solid in quality. It was neither flaky nor doughy, but it was good.
The Bottom Line:
I enjoyed what I had at Pie Sisters, and I loved the discount. Although the cuppie was the perfect portion for me (the size of a cupcake), I will be back to try a slice. Let’s be real, if you make it to the end of M Street and resist the temptation from Sprinkles, baked & wired and Georgetown Cupcake, you deserve some pie.
