BTR Seattle: Red Mill Burgers – Phinney Ridge

My winter travels have brought me to Seattle. Although most people just associate Seattle with Starbucks, there is so much variety when it comes to food in this city. Seattle is very much a crossroads between Asian and American culture because of its location. Although I did go to a pretty great Korean restaurant, this post will be about good, old American hamburgers.

My family in Seattle lives really close to Red Mill Burgers, so it’s famous in my book. However, the fast food joint is always packed when I pass by, so I’m not the only one who thinks Red Mill is great. Not only are the burgers delicious, but they’re also fairly cheap, with prices ranging from $3.99 for just a patty with lettuce and their famous Mill Sauce to $6.99 for a Double Bacon Deluxe with Cheese. The menu also include veggie burgers, chicken sandwiches, shakes and malts, and sides.

Red Mill Deluxe with Cheese

After a long wait for my name to be called so I could pick up my meal, I began devouring the burger I had been dreaming about since my last visit to Seattle a few years ago. Honestly, it’s a lot easier to write about bad food. It’s easier to be critical. I have few things to say about Red Mill’s burgers because they are practically flawless. I got the Red Mill Deluxe with Cheese ($4.69), a patty with American cheese, lettuce, tomato, pickles, red onion and Mill Sauce. The patty was thin and and delicious with all of its toppings. I’m also a sucker for sesame seed buns.

As for the Mill Sauce, there’s a sign hanging below the menu that says:

“Our Mill Sauce” is a housemade mayo with a very light Smokey Flavor. It is not a 1000 Island style sauce and has no additives or flavorings. It’s our Sauce that makes our Burgers Great!

Red Mill should be on everyone’s list of burgers to try before they die.

THE BOTTOM LINE:

FOOD: 4.5/5

AMBIANCE: 1.5/5
