Tommy Bahama is known for its easy, breezy beachwear shops, but the brand also has several restaurants around the world. Sticking to a theme, both the clothes and the menu items are tropical and beachy.
I went to the restaurant in Wailea, which had outdoor seating for enjoying the unseasonably warm weather (for a mainlander)!
The meal started out with bread for the table served with cinnamon, nutmeg and honey butter. The bread was fluffy and irresistible and the butter was quite unique. It made the bread seem like dessert!
For my meal, I got the Jerk Chicken Tacos ($17.50), which were topped with mango salsa, avocado and Asian slaw and served with banana chips. The presentation was beautiful. The banana chips were amazingly addicting; I’ve never had anything like them before. They were covered with cinnamon and sugar. The tacos themselves weren’t the greatest things I’ve eaten, but I liked how the fruit and veggie garnishes cooled down the spiciness of the chicken.
The Harvest Veggie Burger ($17.50) was topped with roasted garlic aioli, gruyere, lettuce and cucumber and served with the “Bungalow Salad.” My vegetarian friend who got the dish was impressed because the burger seemed to actually be house made (she says most places just use Morning Star veggie patties). The burger was made out of a rice base and was seasoned with taco seasoning. The Bungalow Salad was good too, according to my friend, who liked the goat cheese on it.
